Today the Pioneers and Inventors were introduced to a wonderful book called 'The Lost Words', which we will be basing some of our literacy, topic and science learning on this term.
After discovering that the book features a collection of spells (poems) and reading a blog post featuring the author, Robert Macfarlane and illustrator, Jackie Morris, the children were challenged with matching pictures of wildlife to riddles describing them, as well as their name. The children were shocked to realise that many of these 'Lost Words' no longer feature in the dictionary! We are looking forward to exploring this book in more detail over the coming weeks.
