PHYSICAL EDUCATION @ BISHOP
INTENT
PE at Bishopsteignton Primary School aims to develop a fun, high-quality physical education curriculum that inspires all pupils to succeed and excel their abilities in competitive sports and other physically-demanding activities. We will provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Our children will have opportunities to compete in sports and other activities that build character and help to embed qualities such as fairness and respect. PE will also provide a further context to embed some of our core values. Our children will develop RESILIENCE to persevere with activities that may once have felt too difficult. We are passionate about the need to teach children how to COLLABORATE and cooperate with others as part of a team to succeed.

Do you like PE? Why?
'PE is a bit hard because, sometimes you have to stretch your arms and touch your toes and I can’t really do that. That’s our warm up.' Rufus

'When things are new, sometimes quite challenging, but others are easier once I get used to them. Doing the skills in a different way can be tricky too.' Olly
'Sometimes I feel challenged because right now we’re learning tennis and it’s quite challenging to keep the ball where you want it to go. I think some other people would say the same. I feel less challenged when were bouncing the ball. I don’t feel challenged because at home we play tennis and we practice that skills at home.' Iona

'Sometimes - because if you’re doing something that you already know you might have to be a few stages forwards, but if its something new you might find it a bit hard.' Brianna
'It depends what were doing - like netball I find a bit hard especially when you’re trying to shoot in the hoop and it needs to be perfect. Basketball is easier because it has a backboard. Volleyball was fun - I don’t know the rules yet though!' Billy
