Growth Mindset Maths!27 November 2018 (by admin) |
Today in maths we talked about how nobody is born with "a maths brain", that everyone is capable of achieving great things.
Our experiences and the messages we are given can affect how easy we find maths - but with lots of effort and positivity we can all make progress and be great maths learners! We learnt how pathways are formed in our brains whenever we are learning, sometimes we make new pathways, sometimes we strengthen existing pathways and sometimes we connect pathways together in new ways. We found out that the harder you try, the more you can develop your 'maths brain'!
We completed a VERY tricky challenge: can you cut a scalene triangle from a piece of paper using only one cut.
Congratulations to these children who completed the challenge first! A BIG congratulations also to those children who persevered and showed resilience despite not quite getting there - excellent learning from you too!
