    Egyptian Outreach Workshop

    19 March 2025 (by admin)

Today, our Voyagers and Discoverers classes had the wonderful opportunity to take part in an immersive Egyptian outreach workshop.

This enriching experience allowed the children to step back in time and explore the fascinating world of Ancient Egypt through various engaging activities. As part of the workshop, the children took part in an embalming roleplay session and explored a virtual gallery, where they learnt about Psamtek Ankh - a mummified boy whose remains are housed at Torquay Museum. Recent research on Psemtek's coffin has revealed that he belonged to a high-status family from the early 18th Dynasty, making the artifact approximately 3,500 years old. The children also had the chance to write and paint their names in hieroglyphics and to create their own scarab beetles, a symbol of good fortune in Ancient Egypt. Seeing them so engaged and enthusiastic as they delved into this incredible chapter of history was truly wonderful. The workshop provided a fantastic hands-on learning experience, deepening the children's understanding of Egyptian life and culture.
