Discoverers and Voyagers looked at a challenging topic, focusing on how and why food and minerals are distributed around the world.
In this lesson, the children represented the UK and Spain, whilst their teacher represented the rest of the world. The children set up their own mini economy with Monopoly money. Their aim was to produce a number of goods, from different foods to precious metals, and sell these around the world for different prices. Throughout the lesson, they were also required to buy other goods from around the world that their country needed.
They quickly realised that there were some items that were more challenging and expensive to produce, but also many which earned more money for their country.
It was a fantastic lesson which got them all talking about how and why certain items are produced and sold in different countries.
