Children in Years 5 and 6 have been considering how they could create an all-terrain wheelchair for use on Dartmoor.
Inventors and Pioneers have had to really carefully consider the physical features of the environment and how to ensure maximum comfort for the user. They have been thinking about and exploring different ways to ensure their wheelchairs are equipped for forests, rivers, wetlands and tors, but also about how users will be able to get across things like cattle grids too! The more research the children completed, the more they realised there was to consider. We were really impressed with their mature conversations around the required features and with their consideration for wheelchair users. We look forward to seeing their final designs later on this term!
