KS1 have been learning about Eric Carle and his art. They made their own collage papers by making patterns in block colours of paint by scraping, dabbing, zig-zagging and swirling  to create different textures and effects - just like Eric Carle did with his white tissue paper for his collages. Next the children experimented with sketching different under the sea animals and breaking these down into simple shapes ready to cut out of their collage paper. The children made backgrounds by cutting and tearing different shapes before layering to mimic the moving ocean and finally collaged their under the sea animals to great effect.
