Diwali is a festival of new beginnings and the triumph of light over darkness.
This week we have been celebrating Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights.
Houses, shops and public places are usually decorated with small oil lamps called divas. People also enjoy celebrating with families and friends; watching fireworks and eating sweet treats and foods.
This week we have enjoyed taking part in a range of experiences to deepen our understanding about Diwali.
At the beginning of the week we made our own salt dough divas. During the week we created our own Rangoli patterns as well as making Diwali cards. We concluded our celebrations by making masks and acting out the story of ‘Rama and Sita’ with our friends.
