Harvest Soup18 October 2023 (by admin) |
The Explorers were super Stickatops's, learning how to use the peelers and knives with safety and control.
Following on from our story of 'The Little Ren Hen' we substituted the story for making Harvest soup.
Before we prepared our selection of vegetables we used our maths 'noticing' skills to group and compare the produce, in terms of colour, shape and size. It was also a fantastic opportunity to 'subitise' each group, looking for representations of 1, 2 and 3.
We used a soup maker to blend and cook the vegetables. While we waited, we predicted the colour of our soup. Lots of the children thought it might be green because the leeks were the biggest vegetables!
The following day we enjoyed tasting our delicious soup for snack. Perfect for warming us up on a chilly day!
Can your child share our 'Chop Chop' poem with you?
