Koinobori!4 May 2023 (by admin) |
With Children's Day in Japan coming up on May 5th, we had a go at making our own Japanese ''koinobori'' (carp kites)!
Koinobori are special kites in the shape of a fish called a koi. The koi is revered in Japan as a symbol of strength. These kites are often flown during the time of a major Japanese holiday called Children's Day. Carp Kites are usually attached to string and then tied together to a pole or stick to make it look like they are swimming in water.
