Conductors and insulators23 September 2022 (by admin) |
The children showed great curiosity in our science lesson this week, as they investigated which materials were conductors and which were insulators.
The children set up a series circuit in groups, then added different materials to the circuit one at a time. They learned that if the bulb continued to light up, then electricity was flowing through the material, making it a conductor. If the bulb did not light up, they knew the electricity would not pass through, meaning it was an insulator.
They were able to connect this idea to real-life contexts, such as how we are able to safely handle electrical equipment with plastic coatings on the wires.
