The children explored a number of short science activities based on this year’s theme of ‘Growth’.
The children started by learning a little more about the role of antibodies in fighting viruses. They made some origami antibodies to help them picture what they look like and support their understanding. This task was very challenging, so many children asked to take help sheets home with them to have another go.
After this, they looked into some optical illusions and explored what is actually happening in our brains, and how what we see is a little bit like a puzzle with some missing pieces, and our brains have to fill in some of the gaps.
Finally the children investigated if they could accurately determine someone’s age based on their height. They recorded their age and heights and we all put together a graph to help answer the question.
It was a fun, challenging and a great way to celebrate British Science Week.
