Today, Voyagers and Discoverers completed a variety of fieldwork activities.
We started with building our own river channel: we used sand to build the bed and the banks of the river; we talked about a river’s cross-section; and named the different features that would be found along different parts of the river course.
After that, we walked to the Luxton’s Step beach and practised some fieldwork sketching by looking at the human and physical features and labelling them.
After a short break, we went orienteering around the village and practised map reading and compass skills.
In the afternoon, we explored the OS map of our local area and identified the landmarks and symbols recorded on the map.
